Engineers share the experience of using M1 Max MacBook Pro: Save time and money

At the second new product launch event this fall, Apple brought a new generation of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros for professional users, equipped with M1 Pro or M1 Max chips. Compared with the previous M1, the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips have a considerable improvement in performance, and their performance has exceeded many people’s expectations. This makes Apple’s plan to switch to self-developed chips take another solid step.

In addition to performance improvements, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro also brings better battery life. Some technology companies have begun to assign the new MacBook Pro to developers for use as a development machine. Jameson Williams, an engineer on Reddit, also shared his experience with MacBook Pro equipped with M1 Max and how to improve its work efficiency.

Apple M1 Max benchmark

Jameson Williams said that the design of the MacBook Pro with M1 Max is to improve the core performance on the one hand and to provide more ports on the other, which can save time and increase productivity. Its development team has a total of 9 engineers, who spent a total of $32,000 to purchase the new MacBook Pro and recovered the cost within 3 months. In the course of use, Jameson Williams counted the time required to build the Android program after replacing the machine, the new MacBook Pro takes less time than the 2019 MacBook Pro with Intel Core i9, and it saves about half of the time. If it is an iOS version of the application, the time required to build will be shorter.

Of course, this does not mean that the absolute performance of the MacBook Pro equipped with M1 Max is twice as good as that of the 2019 MacBook Pro equipped with Intel Core i9. It depends on the specific work needs of the user. Obviously, Apple’s new MacBook Pro for professional users can meet the work needs of some user groups and greatly increase productivity.
