Elon Musk revealed that he will open paid subscriptions for Twitter accounts
Elon Musk recently divulged on Twitter that the platform will introduce a subscription feature for general users, enabling them to share extended content and longer videos, attracting more viewers and generating additional income.
During the first year of this service, users will receive all subscription revenue, minus the revenue-sharing fees specific to each platform (such as 30% for iOS and Android), with Twitter not charging any fees during this time.
For the web version, users may obtain up to 92% of the subscription revenue, and Elon Musk recommends users apply for the subscription feature through this method.
Furthermore, Musk revealed that additional features will be progressively introduced, enabling creators and celebrities to generate increased traffic and monetize their presence on Twitter, such as the forthcoming “Ask Me Anything” feature, which will allow followers to pose questions to users who have enabled the paid subscription option.
Previously, Twitter had already made the Twitter Blue subscription service available for users, offering benefits such as a new blue checkmark verification badge, and the ability to share longer content, edit published tweets, and receive prioritized responses.
The announcement to provide users with a subscription feature primarily targets content creators and celebrities, allowing their creative output to reach a wider audience and profit through traffic monetization.
Simultaneously, by offering subscription features, Twitter aims to attract more creators and celebrities to share content on the platform, with the ultimate goal of increasing user traffic and boosting advertising revenue.
