EKWB launches EK-QuantumX CoolingStation Monoblock for PS5

In the realm of PC water-cooling, EKWB unquestionably reigns supreme. Recently, they introduced a full-coverage water block specifically tailored for the Sony PS5: the EK-QuantumX CoolingStation Monoblock. Designed to envelop the PS5’s entire PCB, it provides stellar thermal dissipation for the console’s primary heat-producing components. Given the PS5’s historical susceptibility to excessive heat, this solution offers a tantalizing remedy, albeit demanding a considerable degree of technical acumen from enthusiasts.

The EK-QuantumX CoolingStation Monoblock epitomizes audacious design. It serves dually as a protective shell for the PS5’s PCB. Constructed of nickel-plated electrolytic copper with an acrylic top cover, this cooling solution caters to the PS5’s SOC, GDDR6 memory, various controllers, VRM power modules, and the integrated SSD. While the SOC employs thermal paste for heat transfer, other components utilize thermal pads. Equipped with 24 individually addressable RGB LEDs, it boasts captivating lighting effects, requiring an external ARGB controller for illumination modulation.

To incorporate this cooling marvel, one would need to meticulously dismantle the PS5 to extract its PCB. Furthermore, it necessitates a Mini-ITX compatible case or frame, along with complementary pumps, radiators, fans, and an ATX power supply. Notably, EKWB includes a conversion PCB for dual 8-pin PCI-E power connectors to cater to the PS5’s 2-pin DC power requirement.

The EK-QuantumX CoolingStation Monoblock is compatible with the following PS5 versions, with older models excluded due to physical discrepancies:

– CFI-1200A (Japan, Disc Edition)
– CFI-1200B (Japan, Digital Edition)
– CFI-1202A (Australia, Disc Edition)
– CFI-1202B (Australia, Digital Edition)
– CFI-1208A (Russia, Ukraine, India, Central Asia, Disc Edition)
– CFI-1208B (Russia, Ukraine, India, Central Asia, Digital Edition)
– CFI-1215A (North America, Disc Edition)
– CFI-1215B (North America, Digital Edition)
– CFI-1216A (Europe, Disc Edition)
– CFI-1216B (Europe, Digital Edition)
– CFI-1218A (Singapore, Disc Edition)
– CFI-1218B (Singapore, Digital Edition)

Priced at 449 euros, the EK-QuantumX CoolingStation Monoblock stands in parallel to the European PS5’s cost. Additional investments, including a case, pumps, radiators, fans, and an ATX power supply, compound the financial commitment to nearly twice that of a PS5. Given that the PS5 employs liquid metal, the disassembly process is intricate. EKWB, in its efforts to elucidate, released a 12-minute installation video, illustrating the meticulous steps for PS5 disassembly and water block installation for those intrigued by the endeavor.
