Document Foundation set up a dedicated developers team to improve LibreOffice support for PPT/PPTX

The Document Foundation recently announced that it will deploy new teams from the existing LibreOffice community to improve support for PPT and PPTX (PowerPoint) file formats. The current open-source office suite has performed very well in rendering Microsoft Office files, but there are still some problems. For this reason, the Document Foundation has set up a new team to optimize and improve.

LibreOffice 6.2

The initial members of the team include Bartosz Kosiorek (known for his numerous improvements to Windows Metafile support), nd101 (a new contributor with a passion for PPT/PPTX support) and Mark Hung (invited due to his experience in fixing many PPT/PPTX and Impress issues.)

The first task in the team is to deal with the existing PPT and PPTX files in LibreOffice.
