Developers are trying to bring Android to Lumia devices

Earlier, Microsoft had announced the Windows 10 Mobile operating system, corresponding to which Lumia and other devices running the system also stopped supporting.

However, for many users, the hardware of the existing Lumia equipment is working normally, but the lack of system and software support has caused it to be abandoned.

The good news is that many developers are currently trying to provide support for these devices, such as porting operating systems such as Windows 10 ARM or Ubuntu.

The transplantation of the Windows 10 ARM system is called the WoA project. At present, the progress of the project is fairly smooth. Interested users can click here to view the project status.

Recently, some developers are debugging the Ubuntu Focal Fossa system for Lumia devices. This project uses the kernel port developed by imbushuo in 2018.

According to the developers, the Linux mainline kernel can now be run on the Lumia 950 XL version without modification.

The developer also participated in the WoA project for running Windows 10 ARM version on the Lumia device, and even the Hyper-V virtual machine can be turned on.

Installing the Android operating system on the Lumia platform is not new, because a few years ago there were developers running the Android Nougat version on Lumia 520/525.

However, at that time, there were no developers tossing Android on high-end devices such as the Lumia 950 series, and now these devices seem to be fighting Android again.

Last month, a developer launched a new version of the tool called Limia 950 XL PGK. This new version can be used for multiple purposes such as booting Linux and Android.

Another developer successfully runs the TWRP tool on Lumia 950, which is a custom image recovery tool for open source software for Android systems.

With the help of this tool, developers can more easily install Android systems on such devices. Of course, the system may need to be adapted after various adaptations.

The Android project for Lumia and third-party Windows 10 Mobile devices is still in the development stage.
