Debian 8 LTS reached End-of-Life

Debian 8 was first released on April 26, 2015. After receiving technical support from the Debian team for 5 years, it reached the EOL stage on June 30, 2020. This means that the Debian team will no longer provide further security updates for Debian 8. You can see Extended LTS for details.

Debian maintainer dissatisfied

The LTS team of the Debian project will be transferred to provide technical support for Debian 9 “Stretch”. The LTS team has taken over the support of Debian 9 from the security team on July 6, 2020.

Debian 9 will also receive 5 years of free technical support, which will end on June 30, 2022. Supported architectures include amd64, i386, armel, and armhf. In addition, the Debian team also announced that the scope of the supported architecture will be expanded to the arm64 architecture for the first time.
