Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 DNS Resolver Hit by Global Outage, Websites Inaccessible
Cloudflare has reported a temporary disruption affecting its public DNS resolver, 1.1.1.1, an issue that drew complaints from users around the globe. According to available data, the incident began on the evening of July 14, 2025, at approximately 22:13 UTC. The company has confirmed that it is actively investigating the matter and working toward resolution.
Users on Reddit and various online forums noted that numerous websites became inaccessible or loaded with errors during the outage. Monitoring platforms such as DownDetector recorded a sharp spike in complaints, specifically linked to issues with Cloudflare’s DNS service.
StatusGator reported that the incident persisted for just over an hour, beginning at roughly 22:15 UTC on July 14. Cloudflare’s official status page also reflected an “Investigating” alert, marked with a corresponding timestamp.
This is not the first major outage Cloudflare has experienced this year. In June 2025, the company faced a significant disruption that impacted several of its services, including WARP, Workers, and image delivery. Despite such events, outages of this nature remain relatively rare for a company that underpins critical internet infrastructure.
As of now, Cloudflare continues its remediation efforts. Recent updates indicate that the functionality of the DNS resolver is gradually being restored, with a noticeable decline in user complaints. We are closely monitoring Cloudflare’s status and will report once the situation is fully resolved.
