Chrome OS plans to shorten the update cycle to 4 weeks
Google issued a statement that starting from M96 in the fourth quarter, the Chrome OS update cycle will be shortened to 4 weeks.
As early as March of this year, Google announced that the Chrome browser will be converted to release a new version every 4 weeks to speed up the introduction of features, and Chrome will add a new Extended Stable option, which users can change to update a new version every 8 weeks. Today, Google said that in order to provide consumers with new features faster, while continuing to ensure the security, stability, speed, and simplicity of Chrome OS, Chrome OS will also be updated every 4 weeks from M96 in the fourth quarter.
According to the published timetable, the M96 version will be launched at the end of November this year, slightly later than the Chrome browser. At the same time, in order to bridge the gap between M94 and M96, Chrome OS will skip the M95 version.
In addition, for corporate and educational users, Chrome OS will also launch a new channel through M96 with an update cycle of 6 months. This will help ensure the stability of a large number of Chromebooks managed by administrators. More details will be announced later.
