CentOS successor AlmaLinux is available on Microsoft Store
The AlmaLinux Foundation recently released AlmaLinux 8 to the Microsoft Store, and now users can install AlmaLinux 8 on Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems directly through the Microsoft Store in the form of a WSL subsystem. Users who are interested in using AlmaLinux can click this link to download
AlmaLinux was originally created by CloudLinux to provide a community-supported, production-ready, enterprise-grade operating system compatible with RHRL. The reason for developing this operating system is that Red Hat stopped developing the CentOS system, and based on this, CloudLinux launched AlmaLinux as the spiritual successor of CentOS that provides community support.
After the establishment of the AlmaLinux OS Foundation in March last year, AlmaLinux has been separated from CloudLinux to operate independently, but CloudLinux has promised to provide it with $1 million in annual financial support.
