CAPCOM expects PC and console platforms to account for half of game sales

Japanese game developers have always been cautious about game development on the PC platform, and are more willing to focus on game consoles by comparison. For example, CAPCOM, even for a long time, didn’t care about the PC platform at all. Even if the game console has a good reputation, the experience will become worse when it comes to the PC platform. This situation has improved in recent years, and Capcom has begun to optimize for the PC platform.

According to a Bloomberg reporter, Capcom COO hopes to use the PC platform as the main platform for game sales in the future. It is expected that in 2022 or 2023, the PC platform and game console will each account for 50% of the game sales. However, such a plan makes people wonder whether it can really be realized, especially in the Japanese market, where game consoles and different mobile devices dominate the entire game market. However, Capcom’s individual games do have the ability to do this, such as “Monster Hunter: World”. The data shows that in the European and American markets, the sales data on the PC platform is higher than the console platform.
