Canon printers face chip shortages
The supply shortage in the semiconductor supply chain has been going on for quite some time, and the impact of the insufficient supply of chips has gradually appeared on various products. Canon’s digital cameras have been affected by the lack of “core” before, which has affected the supply. Delayed shipments and even shortages have occurred. Recently, Canon’s printers have also been impacted.
Canon Germany has issued an announcement stating that it is currently facing challenges in procuring certain electronic components for multifunction printer (MFP) consumables due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductor components. These components will affect the use of some functions, such as some detection functions of the toner cartridge, etc. In order to ensure the continuous supply of consumables, Canon decided to provide consumables without semiconductor components before returning to normal supply, which caused some toner cartridges to fail to display the remaining capacity or determine whether they are genuine or not.
