Apple will increase the price of OLED iPad Pro

Apple plans to refresh its entire iPad lineup this year, which includes the iPad Air 6, iPad mini 7, and iPad 11, along with the highly anticipated OLED versions of the iPad Pro models. The new OLED iPad Pros, available in both 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes, will be equipped with the M3 processor. Rumors suggest that the starting price for the 11-inch model will be $1,500, with the 12.9-inch variant reaching an astonishing $1,800.

According to DigiTimes, a price increase for this year’s OLED iPad Pro models is inevitable, but the hike might be less than previously anticipated, with the base models seeing a maximum increase of $160. For context, the current starting price for the 11-inch iPad Pro is $799, and the 12.9-inch version with a Mini LED display starts at $1,099.

iPad Pro OLED 2024

Industry insiders speculate that Apple might ultimately set the starting price for the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro at $949 and the 12.9-inch OLED variant at $1,199. While these prices may not be as exaggerated as initially rumored, they still represent a significant increase.

The OLED iPad Pro models offer superior display quality, featuring deeper blacks and higher color accuracy. These models are said to utilize Hybrid OLED technology, which combines both rigid and flexible OLED panel technologies. Unlike the single-layer structure used in most current smartphones, these panels will have a dual-layer structure, doubling the brightness and quadrupling the lifespan.

While the manufacturing costs of OLED panels are higher, contributing to most of the price increase for the new products, it is not the sole reason for the price hike. The M3 chip, utilizing the 3nm process, also contributes to the higher overall cost of the new iPad Pro models. Reports indicate that Apple is set to unveil the OLED iPad Pro models at the end of next month.
