AMD Zen 5 architecture EPYC processor will have 256 cores and TDP will reach 600W
There is still quite a while before the release of the Zen 4 architecture EPYC processor code-named Genoa. Normally, it will not be launched until next year. However, recently there has been news about the Zen 5 architecture EPYC processor, which involves the number of cores and TDP. It is understood that the Zen 5 architecture EPYC processor code-named Turin will replace the Zen 4 architecture EPYC processor code-named Genoa in the future, and is compatible with the SP5 server platform.
According to Twitter user @greymon55, the Zen 5 architecture EPYC processor will have two configurations, 192 cores with 384 threads and 256 cores with 512 threads. Compared with the Zen 4 architecture EPYC processor, the number of cores has been greatly increased, and it should support DDR5-5600 to DDR5-6400 memory. It is understood that the EPYC processor code-named Turin belongs to the EPYC 7005 series and will not be released until the end of 2023 or even 2024.
In addition, Twitter user @ExecuFix added to the relevant situation, saying that the TDP of the EPYC processor with the Zen 5 architecture code-named Turin can reach up to 600W. It is rumored that the EPYC 7004 series may have a model with the highest power configuration of 400W, but it is still far from it. According to the leaked information, the SP5 (LGA 6096) socket area is 76.0 x 80.0mm (6080mm²), which is the largest socket designed by AMD so far, with a peak power of 700W.
