AMD will hold an event with the theme of “Advancing AI”

AMD has announced an event titled “Advancing AI,” scheduled for 10 AM Pacific Standard Time on December 6, 2023, during which the company is expected to officially unveil the Instinct MI300 series products. This anticipated launch aligns with the traditional timing of AMD’s data center product releases.

AMD Advancing AI

Back in June of this year, AMD indicated plans to provide partners with the Instinct MI300 series products in the third quarter, with samples of the Instinct MI300A available in the second quarter. Notably, Sasa Marinkovic, AMD’s Senior Director of Gaming Marketing, also shared details of the event on social media, hinting that updates to the Ryzen AI ecosystem and its enhanced features could be forthcoming.

Based on available information, the Instinct MI300 series products may include:

  • Instinct MI300A (CPU+GPU) – 6 XCDs (up to 228 Compute Units/CUs with CDNA 3 architecture), 3 CCDs (up to 24 cores with Zen 4 architecture), and 8 HBM3 stacks (totaling 128GB).
  • Instinct MI300X (GPU-only) – 8 XCDs (up to 304 CUs with CDNA 3 architecture), no CCDs (0 cores with Zen 4 architecture), and 8 HBM3 stacks (totaling 192GB).
  • Instinct MI300C (CPU-only) – no XCDs (0 CUs with CDNA 3 architecture), 12 CCDs (up to 96 cores with Zen 4 architecture), and 8 HBM3 stacks (totaling 128GB).
  • Instinct MI300P (GPU-only) – 4 XCDs (up to 152 CUs with CDNA 3 architecture), no CCDs (0 cores with Zen 4 architecture), and 8 HBM3 stacks (totaling 64GB).

Recently, AMD has been intensifying its investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and holds high expectations for its new products. There have been reports suggesting that the Instinct MI300 series could become the fastest AMD product to reach one billion dollars in sales. Rumors suggest that AMD may host a separate event for other consumer products around CES 2024.
