AMD seizes more than 30% of the x86 processor market share
According to data provided by Mercury Research, a research and analysis company, thanks to the continued strong advancement of EPYC server processors, AMD’s x86 processor market share exceeded 30% in the fourth quarter of 2022, reaching 31.3%.
Due to the decline in market demand, both Intel and AMD have experienced a sharp decline in shipments, which has had a major impact on chip sales. According to statistics, annual shipments fell by 34%, and quarterly shipments fell by 19%. Although it seems pessimistic, except for 2020 and 2021, the overall processor market revenue in 2022 is still higher than in any previous year.
In November last year, AMD released the Zen 4 architecture EPYC server processor code-named Genoa. This year, there will be Genoa-X with 3D V-Cache technology and Bergamo based on Zen 4c architecture, plus the next-generation APU accelerator card Instinct MI300 with Chiplet design, which will continue to drive AMD’s growth in the server market for some time to come.
In addition, the movement of the mobile market is also worthy of attention. Both Intel and AMD have launched a strong product lineup, which will undoubtedly lead to a fierce battle.
