AMD previously stated at the CES 2022 exhibition that it will launch a Zen 4 architecture processor code-named Raphael in the second half of this year, belonging to the Ryzen 7000 series.
The new generation of processors will use a new AM5 socket (LGA 1718), manufactured by TSMC’s 5nm process, and IOD will use a 6nm process. It integrates RDNA 2 architecture core, supports PCIe 5.0 and dual-channel DDR5-5200 memory, and provides a frequency of around 5GHz. In addition to supporting USB 3.2, the new platform may also have native USB 4.0. It is understood that the new platform will have at least two 600 series chipsets, namely the flagship X670 and the mainstream B650. There is no news about the entry-level A620.
Recently, Twitter user @greymon55 revealed that AMD may release the Ryzen 7000 series processors early, and the time may be selected at Computex 2022 to be held in May this year. In addition, AM5 motherboards are ready for production, and manufacturers are expected to provide early motherboard samples this month. This also means that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which was just unveiled at CES 2022, will soon be replaced, only briefly appearing for a few months.
Perhaps Intel’s recent strength in Alder Lake on the client-side forced AMD to have the idea of releasing Ryzen 7000 series processors ahead of schedule. After all, Intel’s 12th-generation Core series processors will soon be fully rolled out, grabbing the market from desktop platforms to mobile platforms.
