AMD is still expected to release the Radeon RX 6000M series in the first half of 2021
Judging from the financial report, AMD has achieved very good results in the first quarter of 2021. However, compared to CPU/APU, AMD is still slightly inadequate in terms of GPU. Whether in terms of supply quantity or product layout, it still lags behind its competitor NVIDIA. Especially in the mobile GPU market, as Nvidia pushes the Ampere architecture GPU to the mobile platform, AMD lacks products to compete with it. As the new generation of GPU has not been seen for a long time, some users are worried about whether AMD can catch up with the release of new products in the first half of 2021.
According to AnandTech, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su said when talking about AMD’s GPU product roadmap that it is expected that a new generation of Radeon RX 6000M series GPUs suitable for mobile devices will be delivered to OEM and ODM manufacturers later this quarter. In fact, at the CES 2021 exhibition at the beginning of the year, Dr. Lisa Su once said that the mobile GPU of the RDNA 2 architecture will be launched in the first half of this year.
Now TSMC 7nm process capacity is still very tight, AMD will strive to increase the number of GPU supply in the next phase to meet market demand as much as possible. Previously, through various channels, I have learned that Radeon RX 6000M series GPUs are likely to include Navi 22, Navi 23, and Navi 24 core products. Unlike the mobile platform, AMD did not talk about the desktop platform, but it is generally believed that the desktop platform will also be updated with the release of new mid-to-low-end products on the mobile platform.
