AMD announced a partnership with Bethesda
Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, “Starfield” is set to launch on Xbox Series S/X and PC platforms on September 6th, 2023. This highly anticipated game has attracted a myriad of attention with its novel space theme. Following the less-than-anticipated success of “Redfall,” Microsoft has placed its hopes for the year on “Starfield.” Bethesda, too, harbors high expectations for “Starfield,” envisioning it to become its third major IP following “Fallout” and “The Elder Scrolls.”
AMD has announced its collaboration with Bethesda, becoming the exclusive partner for the PC version of “Starfield.” The game will be optimized for Ryzen 7000 series processors and Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. Todd Howard, Executive Director of Bethesda Game Studios, confirmed that “Starfield,” built on the Creation 2 engine, will support FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR 2) and will fully utilize the performance of AMD’s multi-core processors.
Despite the disappointment that only the older version of FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) will be supported instead of the updated one, this collaboration with one of the most anticipated games of 2023, “Starfield,” could be seen as a significant boost for AMD, especially considering the relatively sluggish sales of Radeon graphics cards in recent times.
Based on the previously announced system requirements for the PC version of “Starfield,” a minimum of AMD Radeon RX 5700 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card is needed. The recommended configuration includes a Radeon RX 6800XT or GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card. Additionally, the game requires the use of an SSD with at least 125GB of available space, which is higher than most game requirements. Bethesda, however, has not yet confirmed whether the PC version of “Starfield” will support technologies from NVIDIA or Intel, such as DLSS or XeSS.
