Alienware AW2524H gaming monitor leaks: IPS panel with a refresh rate of 500Hz

Dell’s Alienware brand is preparing one of its fastest gaming monitors yet, with a staggering 500Hz refresh rate, and it’s expected to be revealed at next week’s CES 2023 show.

Twitter user @g01d3nm4ng0 recently shared a photo of what is claimed to be an Alienware AW2524H gaming monitor with an IPS panel and a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Connecting through the DisplayPort interface can achieve a native refresh rate of 480Hz and a refresh rate of 500Hz after overclocking. According to the naming convention of Alienware gaming monitors, the actual size of the panel of Alienware AW2524H maybe 25 or 24.5 inches, and the suffix “H” means that it has a very high refresh rate and is a flat display.

The leaked photo is the back of the Alienware AW2524H gaming monitor, which is very similar to the previous AW2523HF, except that the logo and text on the back have different colors. AW2523HF is also an IPS panel with FHD specifications, but the refresh rate is 360Hz. Although it is already very high, it is still a bit lower than AW2524H. For the average gamer, going from 360Hz to 500Hz won’t do much good, though demanding eSports gamers will be thrilled.

The Alienware AW2524H isn’t the first gaming monitor to hit a 500Hz refresh rate. ASUS exhibited ROG Swift 500 Hz G-Sync as early as Computex in May this year, which also reached a refresh rate of 500 Hz. The difference is that ASUS’s 24-inch product uses a TN panel, and the color and viewing angles will be slightly different.

CES 2023 will open on January 5. It is expected that there will be many new PC technologies and components, and manufacturers will release many new products.
