A GeForce RTX 4090 GPU with blower-type cooling appears

Previously, the GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card with a blower-type cooling solution appeared on the market, which was only dual-slot thickness. Compared with the non-public products with 3.5 or even 4 slots on the market, the same air-cooled heat dissipation, but the volume is much slimmer. Usually, if you want to make it thinner, you can only combine water cooling and heat dissipation. Such a design caters more to the installation and use requirements of servers and workstations.

Recently, a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card with a blower-type cooler solution has appeared on the market. They are also dual-slot thick, and a 16-Pin 12VHPWR interface is placed horizontally at the end of the tail. The power consumption of the entire card is 450W. Its PCB design borrows Gigabyte’s solution, but the graphics card does not indicate the brand, and this blower cooling solution is probably not an official design.
In the previous generation of GeForce RTX 30 series mid-to-high-end graphics cards, blower-type cooler designs are rarely seen. On the one hand, the power consumption and heat generation are relatively large, and it is difficult to meet the cooling requirements by continuing to use the blower fan design. On the other hand, some manufacturers have launched a variety of GeForce RTX 3080/3090 graphics cards with blower-type coolers, but they all canceled their plans in the end. It is rumored that this is due to pressure from Nvidia, and board partners are not allowed to adopt blower-type cooler designs to avoid a large number of installations in servers for AI/ML and other applications.

Since the AD102 GPU has very high specifications, it can still maintain relatively strong performance under the condition of limiting power consumption and relatively reducing heat generation, but it can make the size of the graphics card smaller. Although Nvidia does not allow board partners to launch GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards with dual-slot blower fan design, the continuous emergence of such graphics cards on the market clearly shows that the market has demand for this.
