Solidigm launches P44 Pro high-performance SSD: Read speed up to 7000MB/s

Solidigm, formed by SK Hynix’s acquisition of Intel’s flash memory business, launched the first consumer-grade SSD P41 Plus in August this year. This product is mainly cost-effective, and they will not ignore it in the high-end market. Today, the company has brought the high-performance P44 Pro SSD to game enthusiasts.

Solidigm P44 Pro adopts PCI-E 4.0 x4 interface, and the continuous reading speed reaches 7000MB/s, which is basically the top product in the current PCI-E 4.0 SSD. There are three capacities of 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB to choose from, and the power consumption control has also been optimized. The 1TB capacity product consumes only 5.3/5.5W when reading and writing loads.

P44 Pro is a standard M.2 2280 disk type, using SK hynix’s ACNS075 master controller, which is an eight-channel flash memory controller, it is also used on SK hynix Platinum P41. The flash memory is a 176-layer charge-trapping TLC with a single-cell capacity of up to 1TB.

In terms of specific performance, the maximum continuous read speed of P44 Pro is 7000MB/s, the maximum continuous write speed is 6500MB/s, the maximum random read IOPS is 1.4 million, and the maximum random write IOPS is 1.3 million. The durability is 500TBW per 512GB. In fact, the result of Solidigm’s internal test, the continuous reading speed of the P44 Pro can reach 7370MB/s. At the same time, this SSD also supports Solidigm Synergy software, supports the host-side management cache, and can store important data in the cache to further improve performance. It can achieve more than 10%-12% random read and 70/30 mixed read performance improvement.

At the same time, Solidigm P44 Pro can be used as a PS5 expansion. In the official test of the loading speed of “Elden Ring”, the startup time is almost the same as the PS5’s built-in SSD, and the game loading time is also. The P44 Pro will go on sale in late October with retail pricing as follows:

  • 512GB: $79.99
  • 1TB (1024GB): $129.99
  • 2TB (2048GB): $234.99
