Oracle will consider Java EE to open source foundation

Oracle wants to end its leading development role on the Java platform Enterprise Java EE, looking for an open-source fund to take over the role. Oracle said that the upcoming release of Java EE 8 provides an opportunity to rethink Java development. Although the current Java development is in the open source community to participate in the next, but the Oracle development process is not considered agile, flexible or open enough.

Oracle believes that open source funds can take over the use of more agile development process, more flexible licensing and change the governance process.

Oracle also said it will continue to participate in the development of Java EE. Red Hat and the Eclipse Foundation are all welcome to think that moving to a vendor-neutral open source foundation is good for both the platform and the community. Eclipse Foundation expressed willingness to take over.
