NVIDIA RTX 3060 3840SP graphics card exposure

At the CES 2021 exhibition two years ago, Nvidia officially released the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. It uses the GA106-300-A1 GPU with a core area of 276mm2 and Samsung’s 8nm process. It has 28 sets of SMs, that is, 3584 CUDA cores. It is equipped with 12GB of GDDR6 memory with a bit width of 192 bits and a memory rate of 15Gbps.

Recently, TechPowerUp’s database editor maintainer T4C Fantasy said that a new GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card appeared in the database. The equipped GA106 enables all CUDA cores, a total of 3840, an L2 cache of 2MB, and a GPU clock of 1852MHz, which is 75MHz higher than the previous RTX 3060 12GB and RTX 3060 8GB. However, it is a little strange that the corresponding video memory of this GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card is only 6GB of GDDR6, the bit width is still 192 bits, and the speed is both 14Gbps and 15Gbps, and the choices of different manufacturers are different.

Presumably, this GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card will perform roughly on par with the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT. Its specifications are close to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060 laptop version, both with 3840 CUDA cores and 6GB of GDDR6 memory, but the GPU frequency is higher. In addition, this graphics card provides one HDMI 2.1 interface and three DisplayPort 1.4a interfaces, and the power consumption of the whole card remains unchanged at 170W.

T4C Fantasy emphasized that this GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card has actually been around since late November 2020, but it is rare and only appears in some OEM systems. It is understood that ASUS, Dell Computer, Gigabyte, HP, and MSI have all used this graphics card in their own designs.
