March 2023 Steam Hardware Survey Report: GeForce RTX 3060 shares rose sharply, ranking first

Recently, Valve released the Steam Hardware Survey results for March 2023, revealing a substantial surge in the GeForce RTX 3060’s market share by 6.31% to 10.67%, catapulting it to the top position in the graphics card market share rankings.

In the graphics card rankings for February 2023, the GeForce RTX 2060, previously in fourth place, rose to second place in March, with its market share increasing by 3.42% to 8.05%. The GeForce GTX 1060’s ranking slightly declined from second to third place, with a market share of 7.85%, albeit increasing by 2.57%. The GeForce RTX 3070’s market share rose by 2.52% to 5.43%, ranking fourth. Meanwhile, the GeForce GTX 1650, which had held the top position for four consecutive months, saw its market share decline by 2.08% to 4.04%, placing it sixth.

In terms of operating system market shares, Windows 10 64-bit remains in the first place, with its share skyrocketing by 10.97% to 75.65%, further solidifying its dominant position. Windows 11’s share significantly decreased by 10.35% to 22.92%, falling back after surpassing 30% for the first time in January 2023. The market shares of Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8.1 64-bit continued to decline, standing at 1.08% and 0.2%, respectively.

In this survey, Intel processors saw a significant increase in market share, surging by 9.01% to 76.18%, while AMD processors decreased by 9% to 23.08%. In terms of core counts, dual-core and quad-core processors experienced noticeable declines, falling by 3.51% and 7.19% respectively, with market shares of 5.17% and 20.79%. Six-core processors’ market share exhibited a considerable rise, increasing by 12.28% to 46.59%.

The most common memory capacity among PC-based Steam players remains 16GB, with its share increasing by 4.21% to 56.92%. The most prevalent primary display resolution is still 1920×1080, holding a 64.28% market share, which is slightly down by 0.32% compared to the previous month. Nonetheless, the 2560×1440 resolution’s market share dramatically rose by 8.39% to 20.72%. The proportion of players with more than 1TB of total storage space continued to grow, with a market share of 67.93%, an increase of 18.96% compared to the previous month.
