iPad mini 6 may be renamed to iPad mini Pro
With the increase of the screen area of iPhone top models, the living space of iPad mini, a small tablet computer between iPhone and iPad, is getting smaller and smaller.
The latest iPad mini update was in 2019, adding an A12 bionic chip, Bluetooth 5.0, and Apple Pencil support, but the design has not changed since 2015.
It was previously reported that Apple will launch the iPad mini 6 in March 2021, but today the media reported that Apple not only changed the name of the iPad mini 6 to the iPad mini Pro but also postponed the launch until the second half of this year.
The upgrade of the iPad mini this time is the increase in screen size. The current 7.9-inch screen will increase to 8.5 or 9 inches. Due to product positioning issues, it will not be equipped with a mini-LED display like the 2021 iPad Pro.
Unfortunately, the iPad mini Pro still has no changes in its design. The Touch ID and Lightning interfaces are retained, but the frame will be narrower to adapt to the large screen.
At present, the iPad mini Pro has successfully passed Apple’s internal pre-research process, and then the design validation tests (DVT) will be started, after which the production verification test can be officially mass-produced.
