Foxconn is still the exclusive foundry for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series

Foxconn has always been the exclusive assembly plant for the iPhone Pro series, but Apple has been interested in finding other foundries based on risk management. It was previously reported that Apple has identified Luxshare as the second foundry to produce iPhone Pro series models and will enter the ranks of the iPhone 15 Pro Max assembly supply chain.

According to Wccftech, sources said that Foxconn will remain Apple’s main supplier. Luxshare will also be added but in a much smaller role. However, judging from Apple’s past practices, if a partner proves itself well, Apple will give it more responsibilities.

Apple iPhone 16
At present, the code names and model identifiers of the four models of the iPhone 15 series have been leaked, which are:
  • iPhone 15 – D37 – Spyder
  • iPhone 15 Plus – D38 – Shasta
  • iPhone 15 Pro – D83 – Vantage
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max – D84 – Veyron
It is understood that Foxconn will participate in the foundry of the four models, while Luxshare will only order the iPhone 15 Plus, and will not involve the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Since the market demand for iPhone 15 Plus is likely to decrease this year, it would be a good choice to assign a single model to Luxshare. For Luxshare, as long as it fulfills its duties according to Apple’s strict requirements, it will be possible to obtain orders for higher-end models next year.

It is rumored that Apple hopes to provide more exclusive features on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to widen the gap between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. In fact, in this generation of models, the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro are also more popular with consumers. It is reported that Apple has begun trial production of the iPhone 15 series, and more news should be available in the next few months.
