Rumors: AMD will release Radeon Super Resolution next year, all games can be used

AMD’s FSR has always been regarded by many players as a big killer against NVIDIA DLSS, because it does not require proprietary hardware to run, making many old graphics cards “renewed” and can continue to be used to play games. However, although FSR has no graphics card restrictions and is open source, if the game wants to have the function of FSR, developers still need to manually integrate FSR into the game. Therefore, even after FSR has been launched for so long, there are still many games that are not supported. Recently, it was reported that AMD will launch Radeon Super Resolution in 2022 next year in response to this problem. By then, players will be able to freely choose whether to stretch the screen to increase the frame rate in almost all games.

According to VideoCardz, this Radeon Super Resolution is built on FSR 1.0, which is the evolution of the current version of the algorithm. However, compared with FSR requiring developers to manually join the game, Radeon Super Resolution is built-in at the driver level, so it bypasses the need to deploy in a specific location in the graphics pipeline. Theoretically speaking, after installing the driver with Radeon Super Resolution, the player can use this super-resolution technology after opening the full-screen exclusive option in any game.

But Radeon Super Resolution is not without its shortcomings, because VideoCardz said that only RDNA 1 and RDNA 2 architecture GPUs, that is, RX 5000 and RX 6000 series graphics cards can support Radeon Super Resolution. If the news is true, players using graphics cards older than the RX 5000 series may be disappointed.
