AMD announced the release date and pricing of the Ryzen 7000X3D series processors on Wednesday. Among them, Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D will be available on February 28, with suggested retail prices of $699 and $599, respectively, while Ryzen 7 7800X3D will wait until April 6, with a suggested retail price of $449. On the other hand, the recent news of the A620 chipset shows that AMD wants to further reduce the construction cost of the AM5 platform.
In a recent’s announcement, AMD reiterated that it will provide more options to expand the AM5 ecosystem in multiple dimensions. In addition to the upcoming Ryzen 7000X3D series processors and the recently launched 65W Ryzen 7000 series processors, AMD also mentioned that it will work with partners to expand the B650 series motherboard product line to meet the needs of a wider range of prices. This means that motherboard manufacturers are likely to try to lower the price of B650 motherboards to attract consumers to buy AM5 platforms.
Compared with the entry-level A620 chipset, the B650 series chipset has more complete technical support and higher standards and is the main force of the AM5 platform. However, the current price of B650 motherboards on the market must be at least $160, which is still higher than the starting price of $125 advertised by AMD when it released the AM5 platform last year.
AMD said that the AM5 platform will continue to be used until at least 2025. It is a platform built on next-generation technologies, and the B650 series chipset already contains many next-generation technologies, which can provide comprehensive support for Ryzen 7000 series processors. It is understood that the new B650 motherboard will enter the market within this quarter, and the A620 motherboard may be launched at the end of this month.
Through this series of initiatives, AMD is expected to provide consumers with more choices to build the AM5 platform.
