15.5-inch MacBook Air will feature the M2 chip

Apple previously announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place online from June 5 through 9, 2023, with an open-day special experience held at Apple Park for developers and students to attend in person.

According to Wccftech, Apple is preparing a larger MacBook Air, with a new 15.5-inch version slated for release at WWDC 2023, marking the largest product in the series to date. Recently, the 15.5-inch MacBook Air appeared in the App Store developer logs, indicating it is equipped with the M2 chip, featuring eight CPU cores, including four performance cores and four efficiency cores, and ten GPU cores, expected to offer the same computational and graphical performance as last year’s 13.6-inch version.

In addition to the M2, there are rumors that Apple will also offer an optional M2 Pro. Furthermore, the App Store developer logs reveal that the new MacBook Air’s model is “Mac 15,3” and runs on the macOS 14 system. As planned, Apple will announce the upcoming macOS 14 platform at WWDC 2023 for developers to test.

The rumored 15.5-inch MacBook Air is said to follow the design language of the 13.6-inch version, featuring flat edges, a larger trackpad, a keyboard with function keys, and more. Apple is also expected to upgrade the speakers and front-facing camera, as well as include a larger-capacity battery for improved battery life. Reports have previously indicated that Apple’s supply chain partners are preparing for the launch, with screen suppliers already manufacturing the required display panels.
