AMD CTO confirmed Zen 4 architecture details will be revealed at CES 2022

With less than half a month left before CES 2022, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su will also give a keynote speech at 10 am Eastern Time on January 4, 2022. According to the official announcement issued by AMD, the Zen 3 architecture Ryzen desktop processor with 3D vertical cache (3D V-Cache) technology, as well as the innovations and solutions of Radeon graphics cards, will be introduced at that time.

Recently, AMD Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster said in an exclusive interview with Antony Leather, AMD will share more details of the Zen 4 architecture during the CES 2022 exhibition, but the main focus is still on Zen 3 architecture products that use 3D vertical cache technology.

Last month, AMD released EPYC processors (Milan-X) with 3D V-Cache technology and announced two Zen 4 architecture processors for data centers. They are Genoa with 96 cores and Bergamo with 128 cores, and related products are expected to be on the market between 2022 and 2023.

In addition, products involving the Zen 4 architecture also include the CPU code-named Raphael, and the APU code-named Phoenix. Both belong to the Ryzen 7000 series, manufactured using TSMC’s 5nm process, and the IOD is 6nm or 7nm process, integrated RDNA 2 architecture GPU, support PCIe 5.0 and dual-channel DDR5-5200 memory. On the desktop platform, the Zen 4 architecture will use the new AM5 socket, and the mobile platform will use the new FP8 package. In addition to architecture improvements and performance enhancements, AMD is rumored to further optimize temperature and power management to make it easier to read temperature information and improve power management technology.

It is rumored that the CPU code-named Raphael may be released at the end of the second quarter or the beginning of the third quarter of 2022, while the APU code-named Phoenix will not be until 2023.
