Xiaomi will pre-install Google Dialer and Messages app in the global market

The MIUI developed by Xiaomi based on the Android system is a highly-acclaimed deeply customized version. Many applications developed by Xiaomi have completely replaced Google’s native applications.

However, according to the company ’s latest announcement, the subsequent launch of Xiaomi ’s mobile phones will be pre-installed with Google Dialer and Google SMS, which means that they will be pre-installed to replace Xiaomi SMS.

The reason for this adjustment is the privacy policies and laws and regulations of the European Union and other markets. Some Xiaomi applications cannot meet the requirements, so they use native applications instead.

In the announcement, Xiaomi said that except for the Chinese, Indian and Indonesian markets, all other markets are pre-installed with Google’s native dialer and SMS applications.

Looking forward to the future, all markets except China and other regions will start replacement work. It is expected that the replacement will start from Xiaomi 9T PRO launched in 2020.

It seems that the affected areas can no longer use the Xiaomi dialer and SMS app, which may cause some inconvenience for the old Xiaomi users.

Although Google’s native dialer is liked by many users, the native dialer does not support call recording and may require users to install third-party software to achieve it.

The call recording function is a feature that many Xiaomi users like very much, so Xiaomi users also need third-party software after replacing Google’s native dialer.

The good news is that according to the official announcement of the Xiaomi Forum, Google’s native dialer may add call recording functions in the future, but it is not clear at this time.

In addition, Xiaomi also mentioned that although the application is adjusted based on the privacy policy, Google Dialer and SMS can also be used in conjunction with Google services to obtain a better experience.
