AMD CEO warms up a new generation of server products

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su will showcase the new EPYC processor and Instinct computing card at the upcoming “AMD Accelerated Data Center Premiere” event, it is expected that the EPYC processor code-named Milan-X, based on the Zen 3 architecture and equipped with 3D vertical cache (3D V-Cache) technology, and the Instinct MI200 series of computing cards based on the CDNA 2 architecture, will be used in a new generation of server platforms.

Recently, Dr. Lisa Su made a warm-up on her Twitter account. The cDNA 2 architecture code-named Aldebaran is the first GPU with MCM packaging technology and will be manufactured using a 7nm process. Instinct MI250X will be equipped with 110 CUs and 128GB of HBM2E video memory. The new generation of products will also adopt the next-generation Infinity Fabric bus technology and support the third-generation AMD Infinity architecture, allowing up to 8 channels of the same GPU to be connected to Exascale. It is reported that this GPU will also adopt OAM specifications, which are different from the PCI-Express specifications of the current Instinct series products.

AMD said the GPU can provide efficient and low-latency content streaming to multiple users at the same time, redefining cloud gaming.
