Microsoft announces that Your Phone app will be renamed Phone Link

Microsoft today announced that the out-of-the-box software Your Phone for Windows 10/11 has been renamed Phone Link, and the companion software Your Phone Companion has been renamed Link to Windows. Microsoft said it launched Your Phone three years ago to help users use Windows PCs without having to pick up their Android phones. Once you pair your Android phone with Windows, you can quickly view notifications on your phone, view text messages, view call history, make calls, reply to text messages, and even use Android apps directly on your PC.

As part of the product change, Microsoft announced the introduction of a new interface for Your Phone to fit the Windows 11 style. With new tab navigation, users can still quickly see notifications and all-important content. Microsoft sees this experience as not just bringing the phone to the PC, but as a bridge between the two devices, so Microsoft decided to rebrand Your Phone as Phone Link.

If you were previously running Link to Windows on your Android device, be sure to update the app to receive the new version.

  • The Link to Windows app is preinstalled on select Samsung, HONOR, and Surface Duo devices that are running Android 9.0 or later. On such devices, you can find the Link to Windows app under the Quick Settings menu by swiping down from the top of your screen.
  • For all other Android devices running Android 7.0 or later, download the new Link to Windows app from the Google Play Store.

Microsoft hopes to continue to expand in the future to allow more users to use Phone Link so that users can get the best office life experience.
