AMD Zen 4/RDNA 3 architecture products are expected to be released in 2022

AMD’s just-announced revenue for the second quarter of 2021 shows that due to strong customer demand and its own strong execution, it once again broke the single-quarter revenue record.

During the investor conference call in the second quarter of 2021, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su and AMD Executive Vice President Rick Bergman confirmed that AMD’s next-generation Zen 4 architecture Ryzen series processors, as well as RDNA 3 architecture and MCM multi-chip package Radeon RX series graphics cards, are expected to be released in 2022. In addition, it was confirmed that the supply shortage will continue in 2021 and will ease in early 2022.

According to the information gathered by Wccftech, on the desktop platform, AMD will launch two Ryzen series processors in 2022, which are products based on the Zen 3 architecture and 3D V-Cache, and products based on the Zen4 architecture codenamed Raphael. At the same time, the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards of the RDNA 3 architecture will use the Navi 3X core. It is currently known to include three GPUs, Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33, and there are rumors that there will be Navi 34. Among them, the Zen4 architecture processor and RDNA 3 architecture GPU will be manufactured using TSMC’s 5nm process, and the latter is rumored to be released at the end of 2022. AMD also emphasized that it has initially planned to ship the Instinct MI200 computing card based on the CDNA 2 architecture.
According to related conversations disclosed by Anandtech, Dr. Lisa Su said that AMD’s focus is on high performance and major improvements. x86 is a powerful ecosystem and will continue to invest heavily, AMD can meet the needs of ARM’s custom design through the semi-custom department, and the temporary supply shortage in the industry will not restrict AMD’s market share increase. AMD will work to eliminate tariffs and increased costs under special circumstances and encourage partners to supply graphics cards as close to the recommended retail price as possible.

In addition, Dr. Lisa Su is very happy that AMD has completed the acquisition of Xilinx, and believes that Xilinx can help AMD improve the foundation of its future strategy and deepen the relationship with its partners. In the future, the two sides will have many technologies that can develop together to build a stronger platform and ecosystem.
