AMD announced the 2021Q2 financial report, Breaking the single-quarter revenue record once again

AMD announced the results for the second quarter of 2021, with revenue of $3.85 billion, breaking the single-quarter revenue record again, achieving year-on-year growth of 99%, and a substantial increase. The gross profit margin also reached 48%, an increase of 4% year-on-year, which was also two percentage points higher than the 46% in the first quarter.

In the first quarter of 2021, AMD’s revenue was $3.45 billion, and it also had a record single-quarter revenue, mainly due to the Computing and Graphics Division and Enterprise, revenue growth in the Embedded and Semi-Custom Divisions, with revenues of $2.1 billion and $1.3 billion in these two divisions, respectively. By the second quarter, the revenue of $3.85 billion meant an increase of 12% from the previous quarter. It was also due to the contribution of the Computing and Graphics Division, and the Enterprise, Embedded, and Semi-Custom Divisions, which played a key role. The revenues of these two divisions were $2.2 billion and $1.5 billion, respectively, an increase of 7% and 19%.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su said that AMD’s business performed exceptionally well in the second quarter, with significant improvements in revenue, profit margins, and profitability. With the full bloom of all businesses, AMD’s growth rate is significantly higher than the market average. Driven by strong customer demand and AMD’s strong execution, it is expected that revenue in 2021 will increase by 60% year on year.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, AMD’s revenue is expected to be $4.1 billion, which will mean an increase of 46% year on year. This growth is attributed to all AMD business units, which have been working hard since this year. In terms of products, the average selling price of AMD Ryzen series processors and Radeon graphics cards is higher, which explains why the gross profit margin will become higher. In addition, AMD’s data center products are eye-catching. EPYC series processors have set a revenue record for five consecutive quarters.
