Samsung will be equipped with Exynos chipset and AMD’s mRDNA Graphics on the Galaxy A series in the future

It was previously reported that Exynos 2200 has received 200 million pre-orders, and it is expected to be used on the Galaxy S22 series phones launched in early 2022. This is the first SoC equipped with AMD mRDNA architecture GPU. It will be manufactured using a 5nm process. It is rumored that Exynos 2200 will have a significant improvement in performance compared to the previous generation product.
It is understood that the GPU codename of Exynos 2200 is “Voyager“, which integrates 6 CUs with a total of 384 stream processors, the frequency can reach 1.31GHz, supports ray tracing and variable-rate shading, specifications and performance make the entire industry and consumers look forward to it. In the previously exposed GFXBenchGPU test, the results of Manhattan 3.1, Aztec Normal, and Aztec High are 170.7 FPS, 121.4 FPS, and 51.5 FPS respectively. Exynos 2200 is significantly better than Apple’s A14 Bionic in each project.

According to Wccftech reports, in addition to the Galaxy S series, Samsung will also use Exynos series SoCs on Galaxy A series phones in the future, and GPUs will also use mRDNA architecture. Since the Galaxy A series is oriented to the mainstream consumer market and has a wider application group, it is very likely that the game performance of the mobile platform will be raised to a new level. Of course, this does not mean that the Galaxy A series and the flagship Galaxy S series use the same SoC. Samsung will simplify it, reduce the configuration specifications, and performance will also decrease.

Even if the configuration specifications are reduced, the Exynos series SoCs on the Galaxy A series phones will not decrease too much in performance. There have been rumors that Samsung plans to introduce optical image stabilization for more Galaxy A series products. If the GPU also uses the mRDNA architecture, the overall performance will be greatly improved, which will give Samsung mobile phones an advantage in the competition in the mid-range market. At present, the sales volume of the Galaxy A series is not low, and it may be even better in the future.
