Samsung Galaxy S22/S22+ main camera will be upgraded to 50MP

As the release of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series of mobile phones approaches, the relevant information is gradually flowing out, and it is expected that there will be multiple upgrades. Many users are focusing on the Exynos SoC that may be equipped with an integrated RDNA 2 architecture GPU, but this time the rumors involve the camera of a new model of mobile phone.

According to Twitter user @FrontTron, the codename of the Galaxy S22 series is “Rainbow”. The main camera of the Galaxy S22/S22+ will be upgraded to 50 million pixels. At the same time, it has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. At present, the main camera and ultra-wide-angle lens of the flagship model are 12 million pixels, and the telephoto lens is 64 million pixels.

Although the pixels of the telephoto lens have been reduced, 12 million pixels are enough to capture high-resolution images. It is estimated that Samsung will focus on improving other aspects of the camera system, as well as supporting software and algorithm optimization. In addition, the Galaxy S22/S22+ is not equipped with a continuous optical zoom lens, which will be a unique configuration for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

It is rumored that Samsung will make the difference between Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S22/S22+ more obvious, such as providing a reinforced rear glass panel. The other two models are more likely to use plastic materials, at least in terms of materials that appear more advanced. In addition, there is news that the Galaxy S22 screen size is expected to be 6.06-6.1 inches, the Galaxy S22+ screen size is expected to be 6.5-6.6 inches, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra will use a 6.8-inch screen.

Samsung is relatively cautious in upgrading the Galaxy S22/S22+, focusing on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. As the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s sales were lower than expected and failed to meet Samsung’s expectations, Samsung hopes to have a better performance in the new generation of products.
