Microsoft announced cross-platform password autofill function
Earlier we mentioned that Microsoft brought the password manager function through the Microsoft Authenticator. Today, Microsoft officially announced a cross-platform password autofill solution.
The solution consists of an authentication device and a password autofill extension and supports Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome, and Edge.
This means that users can use Microsoft’s solution to complete password synchronization and filling on most platforms, and this solution is also free and no subscription is required.
On the desktop, users can directly use the password management function in the Microsoft Edge browser or install the password synchronization extension developed by Microsoft in the Google browser.
After installing the extension, you can either connect to the Microsoft account for synchronization, or you can fill in the password on Google Chrome. It supports all desktop versions of Google Chrome.
In the mobile version, users need to install Microsoft Authenticator. After logging in to the same Microsoft account, passwords in various places can be synchronized, and selective filling is also supported.
Although Microsoft did not mention the Linux system, Chrome on Linux should also be able to use this extension to synchronize, so the desktop version almost all supports it.
The macOS version of Chrome naturally also supports it, through the authentication device and password extension to achieve the synchronization filling purpose, so that users do not need to pay for other tools.
Interested users can install the Microsoft Authenticator and Microsoft Autofill extension for testing. Note that you must log in to the same Microsoft account to synchronize.
