MediaTek Announces 2022Q4 and Annual Financial Report

Recently, MediaTek announced the financial results of the fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2022, and the full year of 2022, which is a financial report based on TIFRS. Obviously, MediaTek has been affected by the decline in demand for smartphones. In the fourth quarter of 2022, both revenue and net profit experienced a relatively large decline, both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year.
MediaTek’s financial report shows that revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 will be NT$108,194, a decrease of 23.9% from the previous quarter and a decrease of 15.9% from the same period last year; the profit was NT$18,514 billion, a decrease of 40.4% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 38.6%; the consolidated gross profit margin for the quarter was 48.3%, a decrease of 1 percentage point from the previous quarter and a year-on-year decrease of 1.3 percentage points; diluted earnings per share were NT$11.66.

MediaTek’s annual revenue in 2022 will be NT$548,796 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%, and a record high for three consecutive years; profit was NT$118,625 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6%; the comprehensive gross profit margin for the year was 49.4%, an increase of 2.5 percentage points year-on-year; diluted earnings per share was NT$74.59, which also hit a record high.

MediaTek’s net inventory in the fourth quarter of 2022 was NT$70,703 billion, and the inventory turnover days were 126 days, higher than the 111 days in the third quarter of 2022 and 100 days in the fourth quarter of 2021.

MediaTek believes that the overall global economic environment in 2023 is still full of uncertainties, and will pay attention to the degree of market recovery in the next few months to look forward to this year’s revenue. At the same time, MediaTek hopes to maintain a good gross profit margin and manage expenses carefully.
