IDC believes that due to the epidemic, people’s increased demand for telecommuting has promoted the growth of the tablet market. Compared with the increase in consumer spending on technology, other categories such as catering, entertainment, and tourism have declined during the epidemic.

It can be seen from this report that compared with the global mobile phone market data just released by IDC, the shipments of tablets of all brands have shown an increasing trend.

The number one place is still Apple, with 13.9 million units shipped, accounting for 29.2% of the total, and revenue increased by 17.4% year-on-year. Although Apple only released the new iPad and colorful iPad Air at the end of the quarter, it still has good sales.

In the third quarter of 2020, Samsung gained the limelight, not only regaining the world’s number one in smartphone shipments but also a year-on-year increase of 89.2% in tablet shipments, ranking second with 9.4 million shipments. As the demand for more mobile and portable computing solutions increases, Samsung has focused on two-in-one products. Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S7+ in the third quarter of 2020, which is the world’s first 5G tablet. Make it one of the first tablet vendors with 5G.

Amazon slipped to third place in the third quarter of 2020, with shipments totaling 5.4 million units. In addition, Amazon’s children’s tablets have also maintained good momentum.

Despite the sanctions imposed by the United States, Huawei still shipped 4.9 million tablets in the third quarter of 2020, a year-on-year increase of 32.9%, ranking fourth.

Lenovo ranked fifth in the quarter, with a year-on-year growth of 62.4% and shipments of 4.1 million units. IDC believes that the outstanding performance of Lenovo’s tablets is mainly driven by the demand for low-priced tablets, which is crucial in the current situation.
