  • EA will be split into EA Entertainment and EA Sports

Today, Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts (EA), heralded a substantial internal restructuring of the company’s organisational architecture. The business is set to bifurcate into EA Entertainment and EA SPORTS. This strategy seems indicative of EA’s future intentions to extend its operations and influence beyond the gaming realm as much as possible.

Wilson postulates that this metamorphosis of EA continues to vest its studio leaders with enhanced creative ownership and fiscal accountability, thus fostering swifter and more insightful decisions around development and market strategies. The relevant measures are slated to accelerate EA’s business progression, spur sustained growth of future performance, and render long-term value to employees, players, and communities.

Commanded by Laura Miele, EA Entertainment boasts proprietary IPs, encompassing some of the most beloved franchises and collaborative licensing IPs. Having been with EA for 27 years and previously serving as Chief Operating Officer, Miele is no stranger to the sector. Vince Zampella will continue to oversee the studios behind games like “Apex Legends”, the “Star Wars” series, and the “Battlefield” series, while Samantha Ryan focuses on franchises and single-player gaming experiences. Jeff Karp will spearhead the team managing mobile operations.

EA SPORTS houses some of the most valuable assets in all sports disciplines, a substantial online community with billions of fans, and a global copyright of more sports events than any other interactive entertainment venue. This division will fall under the stewardship of Cam Weber, who will guide the experiences of EA SPORTS and the entire racing business portfolio.

Incumbent Chief Financial Officer Chris Suh is set to leave EA for Visa Inc., with Stuart Canfield, a 20-year EA veteran, succeeding him. In addition, EA’s Chief Experience Officer, Chris Bruzzo, is set to retire, passing the baton to David Tinson.

  • EA SPORTS to renew deal with Premier League: New six-year contract worth £488m

EA SPORTS has reached some deals with multiple sports leagues, such as announcing a multi-year exclusive partnership with the Serie A team Juventus last year and obtaining a new authorization in FIFA 23. This time, EA SPORTS is about to sign a new commercial agreement with the Premier League, involving exclusive electronic authorization of 20 clubs, and the contract value may be close to 500 million pounds.

According to Wccftech reports, Sky News said that the deal will last for 6 years and is worth 488 million pounds, which will bring in more than 80 million pounds in revenue per year, which is more than double the original contract. EA SPORTS continues as the main partner of the Premier League and retains its exclusive game license. At Friday’s meeting of Premier League clubs, 20 teams have been briefed.

Under an existing agreement between EA SPORTS and the Premier League, EA SPORTS sponsors several elements of the matchday experience, such as the EA Sports logo appearing on referees’ jerseys. The Premier League is integrated in-game with the “Ultimate Team” mode, including Premier League player rewards appearing as special items. EA SPORTS and La Liga also have a similar agreement, including the naming rights of La Liga games. The two parties have carried out a rebranding together, involving logos, graphics, fonts, and other visual elements, and there will also be the integration of game content.
  • EA SPORTS and Juventus renew their partnership

EA SPORTS and Juventus announced that the two parties will establish a multi-year exclusive partnership and start comprehensive cooperation. EA SPORTS has been re-licensed by Juventus, and FIFA 23 will be the first licensed game after this partnership.

The cooperation between EA SPORTS and Juventus allows the latter to be fully integrated into the game, including Juventus’ home Allianz Stadium, the club’s logo, and jerseys. In addition, EA SPORTS will become Juventus’ official sports video and city culture partner, collaborating on a number of lifestyle and cultural initiatives to bring new opportunities beyond football.

Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio will join the game as a “FUT hero“, while Juventus star Dušan Vlahović will also serve as a FIFA 23 exclusive ambassador.
EA SPORTS has also released a gameplay trailer celebrating Juventus’ return to FIFA 23, which will be released on September 30 this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia, and Xbox One platforms.
