Report: JavaScript is the most popular development technology
Pluralsight Technologies Inc. announced its Technology Index, with JavaScript at the top of the list. Pluralsight, an online education course service provider for software developers in the United States, was founded in 2004. The company’s website platform has accumulated 3000+ courses, and it has been added every day. The students are widely distributed in more than 150 countries around the world.
Based on 23 billion data points, the Technology Index is not just an analytical programming language, it is the technology that software engineers, IT operations, information security, and data professionals need most. In this list, JavaScript ranks first, and it has risen three places since last April. The next ones are Java, HTML, Python, C++, Android, C, C#, PHP, and Git.
The company wrote in the blog:
“It’s no surprise JavaScript continues to be a top language, as it powers the web applications we use every day. What’s impressive is the constant improvements to JavaScript that enable developers to continue to innovate and thrive in the web application world.”
“Software engineering teams face the challenge of maintaining expertise in core legacy languages such as JavaScript or C, while staying open to new technologies that enable them to create new products and services for their customers. As software development languages, tools, and frameworks continuously evolve, engineers must find ways to stay informed on what’s new and keep pace with the speed of change.”
