NASA and Netflix Unite: Watch Live Space Missions from Earth to Orbit
Following the launch of its proprietary streaming platform “NASA+,” the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced a new partnership with Netflix. Beginning this summer, the collaboration will bring live broadcasts of space missions—including rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, mission briefings, and real-time Earth views from the International Space Station—to a global audience via Netflix’s platform.
This partnership is centered exclusively on live content, and does not include the original documentaries available on the NASA+ platform. According to Rebecca Sirmons, General Manager of NASA+, the initiative reflects the spirit of the 1958 National Aeronautics and Space Act, which mandates the broadest possible dissemination of humanity’s journey into space.
With Netflix’s reach of over 300 million global subscribers, this alliance will significantly enhance NASA’s ability to engage with the public. It transforms complex space operations into real-time, visually immersive experiences for audiences around the world—while also potentially boosting Netflix’s user base through unique, science-driven content.
While this collaboration expands the visibility of NASA’s live events, the NASA+ service remains fully operational. All programs will continue to be freely available via the NASA App and official website, replacing the agency’s former cable television channel.
