Intel Arc graphics card may be postponed again

During the 2022 investor meeting last month, Intel announced the release schedule of several products, including the Intel Arc graphics cards. Intel said that a version for the desktop platform will be launched in the second quarter of 2022, which should be the most anticipated by players.

So far, although Intel has confirmed that the desktop version of the Arc graphics card will be released in the second quarter, it has not provided a specific time. In fact, compared to the first quarter of the past rumors, Intel has delayed the release time, and the relevant reasons are not clear. It is generally believed that Intel is still adjusting the driver so as not to affect the initial performance of the GPU. In addition, Intel may need time to study XeSS technology, and since confirming the technology, other than some game demos, it has not provided more valuable information.

According to Igor’sLAB, through different sources, it has been learned that Intel has once again experienced delays, at least for the three mid-to-high-end products from SKU 1 to SKU 3. The current relatively unified information is that the first batch of products will be released in the 18th to 22nd week of 2022, that is, from May 2, 2022, to June 1, 2022, later than the previously rumored April.

According to a previous PPT about Intel’s Arc notebook graphics development plan, it can be seen that Intel will divide the Arc notebook graphics card into five SKUs, and there will be four memory configurations at the same time. Although the desktop platform and notebook platform may not be exactly the same, with the leaked desktop platform GPU positioning distribution PPT, it can be understood that these SKUs of Intel should be configured on the basis of SOC1 and SOC2 chips.

At this stage, the specific configuration of SOC1 and SOC2 is still not completely clear, but at least the highest-end and entry-level models have a clearer understanding.
