Chrome OS now natively supports Windows file sharing

Since Chrome OS is mostly used on Chromebook devices, many people feel that the operating system is not suitable for heavy users. To change everyone’s minds, Google recently improved — adding native Windows File Sharing (SMB) support for Chrome OS. In the upcoming release of Chrome OS, users will be able to enable native file sharing and web browsing for Windows machines.
Once you’ve added a network share to the File app, you can quickly view the file as if it were directly connected to Chrome OS. Francois Beaufort said in the Google+:
“Network File Shares (such as Samba) are now enabled by default in Chrome OS Canary. This means you can browse another machine folder quite easily once it’s set up.”
Previously, users could only install the “Network File Share for Chrome OS” Chrome extension to access SMB file sharing. Analyst Paul Thurrott pointed out that the feature will go live on the October 23 release of the Chrome OS 70 release.
