Will Microsoft ban Huawei laptops from Windows 10 updates?

Google has decided to stop working with Huawei and no longer grant authorization to Huawei software. Although the dispute is very big, Google can’t violate US law. And will Microsoft not provide updates to Huawei devices like Google? For example, Huawei’s MateBook device runs Windows 10 system. If Microsoft stops providing cumulative updates to Huawei devices, it may pose potential security issues, but it is not clear whether Microsoft is adopting a similar approach.

In response to this question, TechRadar has sent an e-mail to Microsoft for inquiries. Some of the surprises are that Microsoft responded promptly to this comment request. Microsoft officially responded quickly, but the response given by Microsoft in the mail is also very simple: “we have nothing to share“.

Windows 10 Update Control

It seems that Microsoft is not trying to release any useful news on this issue, for the time being, so no one knows if Microsoft will do the same as Google. However, it is reasonable to say that the devices that Huawei has released have naturally signed a license with Microsoft to pre-install Windows 10, so the signed agreement should not be affected.

At least we guessed that these Matebooks that have already been listed should not be banned from updating, that is, they can continue to get cumulative update pushes every month.

We know that Microsoft started deploying automatic updates in Windows 10 for security reasons a few years ago. Microsoft does not want Windows 10 laptops or other devices with security vulnerabilities to appear, so at least Microsoft itself will not actively ban updates. However, if Microsoft subsequently prohibits Huawei devices from obtaining updates, it is not Microsoft’s original intention.
