Microsoft promises to upgrade more Windows 11 apps with Mica material

It is expected that Microsoft will launch the official version of Windows 11 soon, but before that Microsoft needs to do a lot of work, such as optimization and upgrading of built-in applications.

At present, some of the pre-installed applications of the system have been upgraded and replaced with mica translucent effects. This visual effect is better than the Windows 10 acrylic effect.

For users, of course, it is better for more applications to use this effect, so Microsoft also provides developers with mica dynamic material documents to support transformation applications.

For Microsoft, it is also necessary to complete the upgrade and transformation of its own applications. After all, the currently updated mail and calendar, calculators, and screenshot tools have been updated.

Microsoft recently issued a statement stating that the mica effect has replaced the acrylic effect in Microsoft’s smooth design system, providing users with a more layered visual experience.

And these new visual experiences will cover more Windows 11 built-in applications, Microsoft said that it also hopes that all applications can use mica translucent.

However, different applications are handled by different development teams within Microsoft, and each development team has its own schedule and rhythm, so it is impossible to complete the update in a unified manner.

Microsoft promises to coordinate as much as possible across the company so that all applications can be upgraded as soon as possible. Of course, this process will take a long time.

Microsoft also hinted that the Microsoft Teams application will soon be upgraded, as for other applications, users need to wait patiently for the follow-up actions of the development team.

Prior to this, Microsoft has explained the design language of mica dynamic material. Microsoft said that upgrading from acrylic effect to mica translucent will not affect system performance.

On the contrary, the mica dynamic material design language is specially designed for high performance, so the actual use of mica is better than that of Acrylic and can also improve the response speed.

Because in actual operation, the mica material only needs to sample the desktop wallpaper once to create a visualization effect, instead of consuming system resources by scanning frame by frame.

Third-party developers can also use the mica dynamic material design language to upgrade and improve their applications to provide users with a better experience.
