Google removes security reminder when Microsoft Edge accesses Chrome Web Store

Recently, Microsoft Edge users will receive a notification from Google when they visit the Chrome Web Store. The main purpose is to advise them to use Google Chrome because it is more secure.

But many users complain that installing and running extensions from the Chrome Web Store in Edge does not appear to pose any additional security risks. Google didn’t issue a statement at the time explaining why such a move would be less secure. In addition, Google did not provide links to any pages or documents in the reminder to explain why installing Chrome extensions in Edge is not secure.

In short, after so much public opinion has been magnified, now we see that this reminder that has been criticized by many users has been replaced with “You can now add extensions from the Chrome Web Store to Microsoft Edge – Click on ‘Add to Chrome’.” This means that extensions can be installed to Microsoft Edge through the Chrome Web Store. Similarly, Google did not issue a statement this time explaining why the copy of the reminder was changed.
