uTorrent was blocked by some antivirus software

μTorrent was acquired by BitTorrent as early as 2006. Although BitTorrent is committed to security and encryption, it is not much different from before in promoting software bundling. According to Softpedia reports, this well-known download tool has been poisoned and blocked by the number of mainstream security software, and the reason for the blocking is likely to be a software bundle problem. At the same time, the download tool μTorrent also had the same problem, and security software including Windows Defender had blocked it.

μTorrent and BitTorrent have been intercepted by mainstream security software last year, but it seemed that some components had abnormal behavior that triggered the interception. The official statement given by the developer last year was that some components were misreported by security software. In fact, the corresponding components did not have security issues and were subsequently unblocked. Although multiple μTorrent and BitTorrent versions have been blocked, the developer has not released a response and has not released a new version.

The intercepted security software includes Antiy-AVL, Comodo, Cylance, DrWeb, ESET NOD32, Gdata, Sangfor Engine Zero, and Sophos Antivirus. There are a variety of reasons for blocking: some security software believes that the downloader is malicious, while others think it will install some unwanted software.

Judging from the reported cases of μTorrent and BitTorrent being poisoned, the high probability is that some junk software installed silently or dynamically is blocked by security software.

Although these two well-known torrent download tools have paid versions, users mostly use free versions, so some bundled promotions are expected. However, for security software, if the tool is installed silently or bundled dynamically, it may trigger interception and consider it to install unnecessary software. μTorrent sometimes bundles and installs certain adware to users. The only role of this kind of adware installation is to keep popping up various advertisements. Most security software will block the installation of this type of adware. Of course, if software tries to bundle and install this kind of adware, it is estimated that it will also be blocked.
