  • AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5945WX/5995WX appeared on the distributed computing website

Some time ago, a hacker’s attack caused a large number of confidential documents of Intel and AMD to be leaked. Documents involving AMD Zen 3 architecture Ryzen Threadripper series processors codenamed Chagall have also been leaked, and their overall specifications are basically revealed.

The two Ryzen Threadripper Pro processors that appeared this time appeared on the distributed computing platform MilkyWay@Home, AMD “Family 25 Model 8 Stepping 2” should be the first time this series of products based on the Zen 3 architecture has been monitored. The page shows that there are two independent nodes connected to the network, the configuration is Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX and Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5945WX. Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX is 64 cores and 128 threads, but there is no test data. Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5945WX is 12 cores and 24 threads, which shows that the floating-point is 5.56 billion times per second, which is 21.6 billion times per second. However, the database lacks the test results corresponding to the Zen 2 architecture, so it cannot be directly compared.

It is understood that the release time of the Ryzen Threadripper 5000 series and the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 series are not consistent. Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX is scheduled to be released in November 2021 and enter the retail market within the fourth quarter. Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5945WX will be released in the early first quarter of 2022, possibly in January, and the early stage is likely to be limited to OEMs, and it will take a few months to enter the retail market.
  • AMD’s next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 5000 ‘Chagall’ HEDT processor is expected to be released in August

HWiNFO has added preliminary support for AMD’s next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 5000 HEDT desktop processor. The latest software version adds support for the Threadripper PRO with AMD Zen 2 and the next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 5000 processor with Zen 3. It is rumored to be released in the third quarter of 2021.

As for what AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 HEDT desktop processor will bring, one of the main changes is the Zen 3 core architecture itself. Compared with the existing Zen 2 Threadripper 3000 series, it will promote a 19% increase in IPC. The Ryzen Threadripper 5000 processor, code-named Chagall, will retain 64 cores and 128 threads. These processors will provide higher clock speeds, rearranged high-speed caches (L3), and will have a refined 7nm process from TSMC to provide better overall efficiency.AMD Ryzen 7000

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 desktop will also retain support for the TRX40 platform and will be the last generation Threadripper processor for the SP3 socket before AMD turns to a new platform that provides DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 support. AMD Ryzen Threadripper and Threadripper PRO product series are currently the undisputed champions in the high-end desktop and workstation fields. Intel currently does not have the latest version to compete with. AMD has been leading the way and will continue to do so until Intel will re-adjust its HEDT and workstation positioning through Emerald Rapids. Intel expects to launch new HEDT processors between 2021 and 2022.
